Chapter Philanthropy and Service

Tri Delta official adopted St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital as its national philanthropy in 1999. Since then our partnership has raised over 27 million dollars for the nonprofit organization. St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is one of the world’s premier pediatric cancer treatment and research centers. Despite its high operating cost, at $1.8 million a day, no child is ever denied treatment due to his or her family’s inability to pay. Tri Delta’s participation is a huge component in the hospital’s continued ability to provide such care.

Duke University’s Alpha Omicron chapter participates annually in Tri Delta’s Sincerely Yours letter writing campaign. Each member of our chapter writes letters to friends and family in order to fundraise for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Each spring we host an event with breakfast and music in order for our chapter to complete the campaign in an efficient and exciting manner! Our efforts are reflected in the impressive completion of the $15 million in 5 years campaign that funded St. Jude’s specialty clinic in the patient care center. In fact, our philanthropic fervor knows no bounds! Delta Delta Delta recently announced that we are committing to our largest pledge yet --$60 million raised in just 10 years. Our chapter is incredibly excited about contributing to this amazing fundraising effort!

In addition to our national commitment to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Duke Tri Delta encourages its members to seek out and support local philanthropies. Each fall the Alpha Omicron chapter help organizes a family BBQ for the Duke Children's hospital.   This past year alone, through our partnership with other Greek organizations on campus, we collectively raised an astounding $59,000!
